hello and good evening all (its evening here so ). figured id pop in and say my piece. i like how this place has been set up, and id like everyone who joins this guild to congratulate and thank L-Chan for her AMAZING willingness to aid this guild in its foundations on DA and on the internet. She's done a splendid job for us and is definitely worthy of large recognition

that said i think its time to get down to business. What the Dark Artists Guild was originally created to do and what its all about. You see, im a depressed man. And im not going to get into my tales right now cos frankly im sick of repeating myself, and added to that, my past isnt needed right now. What is needed is a small history just to back up the main points im trying to raise. My mind is the thing that plagues me you see, and for years ive tried to battle it, defeat it and lend myself a hand out of this horrific state im in of memory and confounded torment. But no matter how hard i tried, i never could. But, the one thing that i found through my search, that has always stuck with me, is a conduit. That conduit was my art. I found i was able to put to paper the darker portion of my being, what my mind was going through, what i was seeing in my dreams, what every damned inch of my soul was inscribed with. This dark art, as i called it (and as so many others refer to as their art as well i found after i entered the internet world of DA), was my way of telling the world how i felt, what i was going through, and why we should take into consideration the shadowy corners of our souls, to find ourselves, to truly understand how we tick.
That was why when i came to Bakaneko late last year, i started this guild, to allow others, like me, who had dark thoughts/pasts or mindest, but whose art was still trying to find that depth. and we managed to start what became what you see now. We had nearly 30 members back on the old bakaneko.. you wont find even half of them now as that forum was whiped and replaced.. but we remained and managed to persevere, finding solace in a forum that L-Chan created (which i regret to say i havent bin on in ages. i blame school and my personal forum).
ill quote what a fine member of our guild said in relation to his steps for doing well in our guild:

"The first, and most helpful, is DEDICATION. If you are serious about improving, then dedicate yourself to that task. Don't say "i can just do it tommorow" or, "i don't wanna practics now!" That is NOT dedication. Dedication is buggin the hell out of mike to get help from him! LOL And dedication is practicing AT LEAST 6 out of 7 days a week. And doing your best and observing everything you draw so you can make improvements. Hell, I am an overseeer simply for my dedication."

How to join
If you want to join please send a note with the word join or something like it in the subject. You have to have at least one or two dark pieces in your gallery, it can be anything: drawings, poetry, prose, photography.. as long as its dark. After you've joined you can put our icon in your journal like so : icondarkartguild : (without the spaces) or put our name in your sig like :dev darkartguild : (without the spaces)
And that's it. Easy as pie no?

Monthly theme October
Create a dark realm whose landscapes replicate what you believe the bountiful wastelands of your mind would look like, and whose inhabitants reflect your personality.

If you want you can participate in the monthly themes. If you've have a deviation you want featured in our gallery, be it for the monthly theme or just cause you want to then send us a note with a link to the deviation and we will submit it.
